It’s Mardi Gras ~ Time for Gluten-Free King Cake
When you mention the words “Mardi Gras” most people instantly think of New Orleans. Although I have never traveled to New Orleans, it is a place that I think many people, myself included, have dreamed of visiting. Although the thought of the overcrowding on Bourbon Street, at night, during Mardi Gras is enough to put me in a cold sweat, being able to visit the culturally rich area is something I would still love to do one day. There are many culturally rich foods associated with Mardi Gras, and one of those is the King Cake. Having lived in southern … Continue reading
The Ultimate Sticky Monkey Bread
With the holiday right around the corner, I took it upon myself to make the BEST gluten-free Monkey Bread (or Bubble Bread) that I could. After the success of my Best Gluten-Free Cinnamon Buns last January, I decided to try using that dough to create the best Monkey Bread I could do. I don’t mean to toot my own horn here, but I think I’ve done it. I did make a gluten-free Monkey Bread last Christmas, and it was good, but wasn’t great. I’m always trying to raise the bar with gluten-free baking, and improving existing recipes is a part … Continue reading
Gluten-Free Bagels
Bagels. When you are on a gluten-free diet, having a good bagel can be a challenge. In the past year, I have found some fantastic store bought bagels, but they can cost up to $8 for 4 of them. With prices like that, having bagels is a very, very special treat, not something you can eat on a daily basis. These bagels are not only gluten-free, but they are also egg-free and dairy-free, and they cost about $2.85 for 4, or $0.70 each. A special Thank-you to Linda, one of my readers, for encouraging me to give bagel making a … Continue reading

Gluten-Free Yeast Pancakes
By now, it should not come as a shock to you that I love pancakes. I’m always trying out new ways to combine flavours, textures, and in this case, methods. These pancakes are not your normal baking powder and baking soda pancakes, these get all their fluffiness from the yeast that is added to the batter. They take a little longer to make, since you have to let the yeast in the batter rise, but it is worth it. they have a fantastic yeast-flavour to them, which really adds to the pancakes. Also…the leftovers make fantastic sandwiches. Bonus! We made … Continue reading

Gluten Free Orange Rolls
After the success with my Gluten Free Cinnamon Buns, I decided to try another approach (if you haven’t tried those cinnamon buns yet…what are you waiting for?). By changing a few things here and there, I came up with these delicious Gluten Free Orange Rolls. YUM! As you can see, just because you have Celiacs or a gluten-intolerance, doesn’t mean that you will never have great food, and desserts, again.
