Gluten Free Ooey-Gooey Monkey Bread
NOTE: A NEW Gluten-Free Monkey Bread recipe has been posted. It has been improved, and I think you would enjoy that one more than this one. You can find the new, updated recipe here: Gluten-Free Sticky Monkey Bread (or Bubble Bread) Merry Christmas! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ OK, so like I said, I’m posting recipes that I’ve let stockpile for a while. This recipe was from our Christmas morning breakfast. I mixed it together and put it in the pan the night before, and let it rise before the kiddos were up, popped it in the oven, and it was ready to eat … Continue reading
Gluten-Free New Year’s Cookies or Portzelky
HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope 2011 holds many great things for you. I will start the year off with a bang by posting all these recipes that I’ve been accumulating. I don’t photograph all the new recipes I try, but I do quite a few of them, just not all of them get blogged in a timely matter. So, for you, I will post until my reserve of recipes has run low. Enjoy! These New Year’s cookies, or Portzelky, have been made in my family for as many years as I can remember. Some people make them differently, some include … Continue reading
Gluten Free Oatmeal Cinnamon Raisin Bread
Ahh…I wish you knew how great this bread smelled while it was baking. This is the recipe that I’ve been working on for the last while, and I’m satisfied with it now, so I’ve decided to share it with you. I was really missing raisin bread, and so after doing a search through some regular gluten-filled raisin bread recipes, I decided to try my hand at making a gluten free version. This bread is fantastic. It is moist, not at all crumbly. It is great fresh off the counter for up to 3 days, as well as toasted (LOVE toasted … Continue reading
Gluten-Free Hamburger Buns
HELLO!! Have you missed me? Things are crazy busy here. A month ago, my husband started a new job (mentioned last time), and the commute was too long for our family. Rather have him at home than in a car. So, we’ve bought a house an hour away, are in the process of packing everything up (and clearing everything out, boy, you can collect a LOT of stuff over 11 years), and have begun the process of selling our house. So, I haven’t been baking much lately, and all my “things” for taking food pictures have been put away for … Continue reading
Easy Gluten-Free Seasoned Pizza Crust
Throwing together a pizza doesn’t have to be a lot of work. By having the flour mix (see note) on hand in the cupboard, it’s quick, simple & convenient. We never really let the crust rise much, as we like a thinner crust. However, if you want a thicker crust, you can let it rise for 15-20 minutes before pre-baking it. French Bread
French Bread. Not only French Bread, but Gluten-Free French bread. For me, this has been like the search for the Holy Grail. After searching for a recipe for it, trying a few, and failing miserably, I didn’t think I’d ever have French bread again. Much less, garlic toast. Then along came that wonderful Gluten-Free Gourmet, a Celiac’s hero, Bette Hagman. This woman has many wonderful recipes using different flour mixes, and they produce wonderful results! This bread was a little heavier than store bought French Bread, but we didn’t mind. I may not have let it rise long enough, I’m … Continue reading
Gluten-Free Hot Cross Buns
Here is a recipe I meant to post a few days ago. This recipe is for Hot Cross Buns. I added raisins to mine, and they were fantastic. However, like all baking, best when they were fresh. By day 2, they needed to be zapped in the microwave for a bit to get back their freshness. The flavour was really good though. This was my first attempt using one of Bette Hagman’s recipe blends, and it was pretty successful, I must say. Quite impressed! ShareTweetff592d706b0ffa371f326feb998a2467Share via email
Gluten-Free Easter Bread (Paska)
At this time of year, we start to think about spring (goodness knows we can’t feel it here yet, only think about it. Ha!), and with spring comes Easter. In our family, my Mom & Grandma have always treated us with Easter bread, or Paska. This year, the challenge was to make myself some gluten-free paska. After playing around with a few recipes, I’ve finally got it to where I’m pretty pleased with the results. The smell when this bread is rising is AMAZING! And when baked & topped with some vanilla icing, they are perfect! ShareTweet972715e9576dbff804cf65bb5d639bf7Share via email
Another Wonderful Gluten-Free Sandwich Bread
This bread was simple to make, rose great in a standard bread pan, was soft, and when fresh, isn’t crumbly at all. I did find it to be a wee bit crumbly after being frozen, but not as bad as some of the recipes I’ve tried in the past. It tastes SO good! If you’re a celiac, you know it’s hard to find good bread recipes. I’m so thrilled to have found as many great breads as I have in the few months I’ve been gluten-free. LOVE IT! And I absolutely LOVE when others share their gluten-free recipes with me. … Continue reading
The Daring Bakers Grab a Slice
Yep, this month, the Daring Bakers took on pizza! But, not just any pizza. This pizza recipe comes to us from Peter Reinhart’s “The Bread Baker’s Apprentice”. Our hostess with the mostess this month was Rosa of Rosa’s Yummy Yums. This may be your basic pizza dough, but it is far from ordinary! A Barbecue Chicken Pizza – click for recipe For myself, I was quite disappointed when I read this month’s challenge. Not because I didn’t think it was a challenge, but because I thought it was a challenge I could not succeed at. You see, I have tried … Continue reading
