Crusting Buttercream
Birthdays are done and finished for this year, so now we can fully concentrate on Christmas!! Mind you, I’ve been busy crafting and decorating for Christmas for the past few weeks already, that is what has been keeping me busy. But, the end is in sight now, and then I will switch over to Christmas baking! On a side note, if you want to follow along with our family’s “Elf on a Shelf” antics, please pop by The Baking Beauties Facebook page, where new pictures are posted daily. I love keeping in touch with you guys via Facebook, so please … Continue reading
Sugar and Spice Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
By now, you may know that I love all things pumpkin. I love muffins, cheesecake, waffles, rolls, and of course, pie! But, when you roast your own pumpkin, you also have pumpkin seeds that you can roast and season. When we made a Jack-o-lantern, pulling out the seeds and cleaning them so we can roast them is a must. We all love them. Normally, I just roast them plain, but today I’m going to show you a fun, flavourful way to kick-up your pumpkin seeds. In other pumpkin news, Kinnikinnick has released their Pumpkin Spice Donut! In addition … Continue reading
Blueberry Lime Popsicles
Hanging onto the last warm days of summer here, and to celebrate Blueberry Popsicle Day, I decided to make some homemade blueberry Popsicles, with a hit of lime. They are really easy to make, taking only 2 minutes to mix up, and then allow them to freeze overnight, before enjoying the fresh, wholesome taste of sweet blueberries and tart lime. I hope you all enjoy a safe long-weekend!
Gluten-Free Blubarb Cobbler
I bought some AMAZING blueberries the other day at the grocery store. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen such huge blueberries before, but they were fantastic. While eating them by the handful, I asked you guys on Facebook what you would like to see made with blueberries. There were many fantastic suggestions, like muffins, pie, ice cream, pound cake and cheesecake, but I decided to take the suggestion of cobbler, and kick it up a bit. This Blueberry-Rhubarb Cobbler is inspired by my friend Cindy’s Blueberry Rhubarb jam that she posted a few weeks ago. I mean, how could you … Continue reading
Gluten-Free Summer Berry No-Bake Cheese Cupcake
These little no-bake cupcakes are so adorable, and so quick and easy to put together. They are the perfect size to have a sweet bite after supper, or with your afternoon coffee. These are so cute and so realistic looking, my son tried to take the pink wrapper off before eating, not knowing that the pink wrapper is chocolate and edible. Prep time: 20 minutes Total time: 20 minutes Servings: 12
Creamy Chocolate Tapioca Pudding with Raspberries
I’m down to the last handful of recipes that I created for the Real Women of Philadelphia contest . A few more to go, and things will return to normal here. I just want to make sure I get my recipes on the blog because I don’t know how long they will leave all the recipes up on their page. This isn’t your ordinary, run-of-the-mill tapioca pudding. By adding chocolate, almond liqueur and raspberries, we take this simple comfort food, and kick it up to being “company-worthy” fare. Prep time: 25 minutes Cook time: 15 minutes Total time: 40 minutes … Continue reading
Creamy Quinoa Apple Crunch
Alright, everyone. The Philly judges have spoken, and this Baking Beauty is not going to the finals in Toronto. I do feel that they made an error, because I not only make AMAZING food using the cream cheese, but I also do it gluten-free. Which, in my books, is rockin’ it! But, so it goes. One door has been closed, now I need to figure out which window is open. Thank you guys all so much for the encouragement along the way, and the emails and comments on Facebook, I really appreciate it. I’ve still got more dessert recipes to … Continue reading
Philly Grilled Pineapple
I love desserts, but not all desserts have to take a lot of time, or be loaded with calories. I came up with this dessert for the previous dessert round of the Real Women of Philadelphia contest. The second round of desserts begins this coming week, and that is our final round of entering recipes. Then the weeks following, we wait, as the last finalists will be announced those weeks. This dessert is great, takes only a short while to put together, and the brown sugar & butter make the pineapple taste absolutely DELICIOUS! Enjoy! This dessert is perfect for … Continue reading
Gluten-Free Cream Cheese Cinnamon Buns
Well, although I didn’t get accepted as a finalist in this dessert round (I know, right? I was a little surprised as well), I will keep cooking, and keep entering recipes, because in two weeks, we’ll be starting desserts again. Time to kick it up and really impress them with my gluten-free desserts then! But, here is my recipes for these amazing cream cheese cinnamon buns, gluten-free of course. This video also shows you how I make my gluten-free cinnamon buns, maybe a visual is helpful to some. Until now, a good gluten-free cinnamon roll as was elusive as Big … Continue reading
Creamy Mango and Blueberry Parfaits
This recipe is another of my entries for the Real Women of Philadelphia contest. The first two finalists for the dessert week are being announced this week, and I still have my fingers, toes andeyes crossed that I get chosen as a finalist. Whatever recipe they pick you for as a finalist, is the recipe that you have to make in Toronto in July at a live cook-off. It also gives you a one-in-four chance to win $20,000. I don’t really know what my motivation is to become a finalist. The money isn’t it right now, believe it or not. … Continue reading
