Gluten Free Lemon Blueberry Doughnut Holes
After reading last week that Kinnikinnick had announced their new spring doughnut flavour, I was excited. New doughnut flavours are always a good thing, right? But, then when I read that they were only going to be available for online ordering, or at their retail location, I realized I would never taste their blueberry doughnuts. I am not in the habit of ordering my gluten free foods online, and I am no where near their retail location. So, I did the next best thing, which I think is better anyway. I came up with my own version of blueberry doughnuts, … Continue reading
Gluten Free Orange Rolls
After the success with my Gluten Free Cinnamon Buns, I decided to try another approach (if you haven’t tried those cinnamon buns yet…what are you waiting for?). By changing a few things here and there, I came up with these delicious Gluten Free Orange Rolls. YUM! As you can see, just because you have Celiacs or a gluten-intolerance, doesn’t mean that you will never have great food, and desserts, again. You just have to commit some time to it, and you’ll thrive! Plus, homemade tastes better than store-bought, whether it is gluten-free foods or regular foods. For pictures showing how … Continue reading
Homemade Yogurt
I never knew that yogurt was so easy to make. When I asked the question on The Baking Beauties Facebook Page, I received a number of replies, and none of them said “This is difficult, and expensive, so don’t even try it”. Instead, they were all similar, a very simple recipe & instructions. My kids & I eat quite a bit of yogurt, and we were paying about $10 per week for our yogurt. Making yogurt this way, is much, much cheaper. It does require you to be at home the day you make it, as it needs some tending … Continue reading

Fabulous Fruit Dip
The other day I was looking for a fruit dip. While we were at the grocery store, my boy asked if we could buy a pineapple. Both he and my daughter pick pineapple off of their pizza, so I thought…sure! Then you can eat pineapple, and see that it really is good. Mind you, the stuff from a can doesn’t hold a candle to the fresh cut fruit, so I guess I can’t blame him. When he tried the fresh pineapple, he said it was delicious! When I asked him why he picked pineapple of his pizza just the day … Continue reading
Gluten-Free New Year’s Cookies or Portzelky
HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope 2011 holds many great things for you. I will start the year off with a bang by posting all these recipes that I’ve been accumulating. I don’t photograph all the new recipes I try, but I do quite a few of them, just not all of them get blogged in a timely matter. So, for you, I will post until my reserve of recipes has run low. Enjoy! These New Year’s cookies, or Portzelky, have been made in my family for as many years as I can remember. Some people make them differently, some include … Continue reading
Gluten-Free Peanut Butter Chocolate Fudge
This delicious fudge was made by my husband. I have a hard time letting others step into my kitchen, but I forced myself to this one day, because he had picked a few recipes he wanted to make. I’m glad that I did step aside, he made a fantastic baked ziti, and this peanut butter chocolate fudge. All that I could enjoy, but not have to make. I should maybe start sharing my kitchen more often! This fudge was (all gone now) smooth, delicious and rich. It was super easy to put together, and in a few hours, after cooling, … Continue reading
Homemade Fondant that Tastes like Buttercream
I baked birthday cupcakes for me son, t’ little guy be into everythin’ pirate. What would be better than pirate cupcakes t’ celebrate? It aye beats walkin’ t’ plank! Alright, enough pirate talk. If you ever walk to talk like a pirate though, you can use the English-to-pirate translator…seriously! It be a lot o’ fun! Last year I used a homemade fondant to decorate the boy’s Cars cake, and I really enjoyed working with it. It coloured well, shaped well, and held up well. This year, I just wanted to try something different. So, I scoured Cake Central for recipes, … Continue reading
Gluten Free Pumpkin Spice Doughnut Holes
Well, fall is definitely in the air. It’s not just the fact that our trees in the front are bare already, and the garden is empty. It’s also fall because you can find a lot of pumpkin goodies everywhere now. Pumpkin coffees, pumpkin pies, pumpkin soup, and even pumpkins used to decorate by the front door. The other day I got an email from a gluten-free food manufacturer advertising that they were now selling spiced pumpkin doughnuts. That got my interest, but the way I work, I searched the internet for “regular” pumpkin spiced doughnuts that I could convert to … Continue reading
