Birthdays are done and finished for this year, so now we can fully concentrate on Christmas!! Mind you, I’ve been busy crafting and decorating for Christmas for the past few weeks already, that is what has been keeping me busy. But, the end is in sight now, and then I will switch over to Christmas baking! On a side note, if you want to follow along with our family’s “Elf on a Shelf” antics, please pop by The Baking Beauties Facebook page, where new pictures are posted daily. Gluten Free Caramel Apple Trifle
When my Mom or I are asked to bring dessert to a gathering of friends or family, we enjoy bringing a trifle. Usually I stick to a Fresh Fruit Trifle, using a variety of in season fruit, or a sinfully-delicious Chocolate-Chocolate Trifle. However, after seeing a version of this Caramel Apple Trifle on Pinterest, I decided to put my own spin on it and make this perfectly Autumn trifle instead. So delicious! Like, still-tasty-after-3-days delicious. This recipe makes a lot, I would say it would be enough to serve approximately 30 people. But, it is so easy to put together, … Continue reading
All-in-One Holiday Bundt Cake
Autumn is just such a beautiful time of year. The air is cooler & crisp. The trees turn beautiful colours that you can only enjoy for a few weeks (or until a wind storm comes along and blows them all off the trees). I also love all the flavours that are in season this time of year. The abundance of apples, cranberries, pumpkin and pecans. Each and every one of those things whispers “Autumn!”, but this cake screams it! This cake is created from a recipe from Dorie Greenspan’s “Baking From my Home to Yours” cookbook. I was flipping through … Continue reading
Gluten Free Plum Clafouti
Plum Clafouti is something I’ve never heard of before, or even ever tried. But, I when I bought some prune plums and wasn’t sure what to do with them, a quick internet search lead me to this dessert. I wasn’t sure if it was the way it was “supposed” to be, but the kids and my husband all enjoyed it so much, and went back for seconds, and had to be cut off from thirds, that I thought I’d share it with you. I hope you enjoy it too! ShareTweetbc89ab5ae32e8cce09b27f1108f28cb9Share via email
Sugar and Spice Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
By now, you may know that I love all things pumpkin. I love muffins, cheesecake, waffles, rolls, and of course, pie! But, when you roast your own pumpkin, you also have pumpkin seeds that you can roast and season. When we made a Jack-o-lantern, pulling out the seeds and cleaning them so we can roast them is a must. We all love them. Normally, I just roast them plain, but today I’m going to show you a fun, flavourful way to kick-up your pumpkin seeds. In other pumpkin news, Kinnikinnick has released their Pumpkin Spice Donut! In addition … Continue reading
Easy to Make: Pumpkin Pie Spice
With it now officially being Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere (and at Starbucks), I know that a lot of people will be doing a lot of baking with pumpkin. One of the ingredients that very often accompanies pumpkin is pumpkin pie spice. But, don’t fret, you don’t need to run out and buy an expensive little tin of pumpkin pie spice, you can easily make your own from spices that you may already have in your pantry at home! The smells of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice and cloves is enough to warm your house by 5 degrees on a chilly … Continue reading
Mocha Fudge Ripple Ice Cream
My husband eats his first spoon of this ice cream. “Mmm… oh, that’s good.” Eats another spoonful. “Seriously, this is good stuff.” Yet another spoonful disappears. “This is the best ice cream you’ve ever made.” Yes, even this Baking Beauty has a way of still surprising her husband after 13 years of marriage. This ice cream is a prime example of that. And he was right. This ice cream is nothing like any of the others I’ve ever made. This ice cream is super rich, smooth & silky, even after being in the freezer for a week (how did that … Continue reading
