“My Dad deserves a pat on the back” – I’ve actually made this shirt for my husband YEARS ago, before my (now 6 year old) boy was even born. I thought it was super cute, he only wore the shirt a handful of times. Ah well, thought that counts.

Welcome back to “Why Didn’t I Think of That?” Wednesday! Today I decided to feature some of my favorite naturally gluten-free snacks for kids. There are so many great ideas out there. I hope that with summer approaching, you find these ideas as helpful as I will.

Check out these cute little caterpillar kabobs! So simple to put together, yet I’m sure the kids will love it. Any food on a stick is more fun, right?

Yummy Frozen Chocolate and Banana Pops are sure to cool the kids down when the heat rises.

How cute & fun this this?? A Jell-o beach scene with cute little gummy bears chilling under an umbrella.

Make your own Rock Candy. They were selling this at the gift store when we went on my daughter’s school field trip, and I think we need to try making it at home ourselves. I’ve got a few ideas on how to change things up (and flavour them), and if I do, I just may need to pin that recipe.

Kool-Aid Popcorn – imagine all the different colours & flavours you can make your popcorn! Perfect for any kids party or get together.

Easiest Yogurt Pops EVER! Insert stick. Freeze. Remove. Enjoy!

There have been many great finds over on Pinterest this week. And some of them make you just stop and think “why didn’t I think of that”? I will feature some of those pins here, linking to the Pinterest pin.

I keep playing around with the format here a bit. I’m not wanting to step on any toes by including the pics here, and I want you to be able to pin the original pins, so I will be linking directly to the pins that I have on my “Why Didn’t I Think of That?” board. First off, growing tulips inside…genius! They are so pretty, this is definitely something I want to try!

Make your own fruit by the foot at home…using real fruit (what a concept).

A hanging herb garden, in a shoe organizer! Perfect for small spaces, and kinda cute too!

The many, many uses for Bounce dryer sheets. Who knew!

Three kitchen measurement printables from Martha Stewart. I like the baking pan substitutions one, and the measuring equivalents is a must have.

Since the school year is coming close to an end, here is 24 teacher gift ideas. I always try to be creative with these, since I know they get a lot of small things. This list has some great ideas.

Summertime is coming! Check out these gluten-free waffle cones by Adventures of a Gluten-free Mom.

And with summertime comes outside play time. What a great idea to make a bubble refill station! Includes a recipe to make your own bubble mixture too.

One last one for today…I leave you with something sweet & salty. Check out this AMAZING Peanut Butter Pie with a pretzel crust. Be sure to use gluten-free pretzels, and you’ll be set. That pie looks so good!

Here we go with another “Why Didn’t I Think of That” Wednesday, where I share with you some things that I saw this past week and immediately thought “What a cool idea! Why didn’t I think of that??”. These ideas have mainly been collected while wasting full days browsing around Pinterest instead of feeding my family for recipes, DIY & gardening inspiration. THIS is going to be one of the first things I try – how to grown your own cilantro. I’ve tried in the past, and had it bolt on me when it got hot outside, and wasn’t able to harvest anything.

Looking for a great (sneaky) way to hide a key outside? Check out this brilliant idea! (knowing me, I’d still lose it though)

Feed the birds in your backyard with this super simple peanut wreath feeder! It is made using a Slinky and a wire clothes hanger! Too neat!

A genius way to store your plastic lids – Use a CD holder! Who would have thought…oh, I guess BHG.com did.

If this really works…it will be so cool! You can make a watermelon into a drink fountain! Seriously! How neat wouldn’t that be at your outside summer parties?

And to keep the bugs out of your drinks…use upside down cupcake liners with a hole  in it for a straw to go through. You can even do cute papers to match your party!

Oh, and how about some Campfire Cones? What are they? Well, an ice cream cone (gluten-free in our case) filled with fruit, chocolate & mashmallow that is wrapped up in foil, and heated on the campfire. Sort of like banana boats meet s’mores. I know my kids would love it!

I thought I’d start a fun little feature here on The Baking Beauties. I’m going to feature a few little fun finds from around the world wide web. Those types of things that make you go “Why Didn’t I Think of That?” as soon as you see them. It may be recipes that other bloggers have created, gardening tips, or kid’s craft how-to’s. Thanks to the addicting nature of Pinterest, I’ve had so many of these moments, I thought I’d share some of them with you.

Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Cheesecake – on a stick. Perfection!

Make oatmeal on-the-go! Put it in a jar, top up with hot water, and it’s ready to eat when you get to where you’re going. Too neat! (just be sure to use certified gluten-free oats)

Self-watering seed starter planters from pop bottles! Again, brilliant!

How to chose the best herbs to use in container gardening. I’m hoping to fill more containers this year, so this will come in handy.

What a fantastic idea! Instead of paying your child an allowance, you let them chose what chores they want to do, and pay them accordingly.
